Bot Tala Productions-12 Dhonnobad (Thank You) (7 January, 2020) Concept and Director: Nongor Rasel The play Dhonnobad is a sharp, satirical, and defiant narrative against the rising culture of violence against women, rape, and impunity in Bangladesh. From behind a green screen spread across the street, three female characters emerge—each representing a well-known and tragic victim of rape in the country. In the final stage of the play, a blood-red color flows from behind the screen. The three female characters use that "blood" to write the word "Dhonnobad" (Thank You) on pieces of paper and hand them to the audience. This "thanks" is a stinging condemnation of a silent and passive society that prefers to remain a distant spectator rather than standing up in protest.
