Raater Rani
About This Event
Raater Rani is a sharp critique of the double standards inherent in a patriarchal society, highlighting the voyeuristic gaze, cyberbullying, and the systemic humiliation of women. The play revolves around the dialogue of two friends, one of whom considers spying on a neighbor through binoculars or making lewd comments on female celebrities' social media live streams as a "manly" right. Whenever a woman protests against his harassment, she is instantly branded as "disrespectful" or "immoral," and he attempts to ostracize her by using derogatory labels like ‘Raater Rani’ (Slut). The play confronts the audience with the harsh reality of how the language used by the media, the police, and the general public often strips women of their dignity while allowing men to remain "pure" and unaccountable for their actions.
